Welcome to the ICAN of the Bluegrass official website! We are a local chapter of the International Cesarean Awareness Network serving the Bluegrass Region in Central Kentucky. We promote evidence based information regarding pregnancy, birth and VBAC as well as offer emotional and educational support to mothers and families.

The International Cesarean Awareness Network, Inc. (ICAN) is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to improve maternal-child health by preventing unnecessary cesareans through education, providing support for cesarean recovery, and promoting Vaginal Birth After Cesarean (VBAC).

We offer free monthly support and educational meetings for the community.

ICAN of the Bluegrass has a Yahoo Group designed to unite mothers, families and birth professionals (OBs, FPs, doulas, midwives, etc.) who are interested in promoting, learning about, and/or achieving VBACs (Vaginal Birth After a Cesarean)in the greater Lexington area. Anyone from the greater Lexington, KY or Bluegrass area is welcome. We will give support, offer advice, share stories, and give recommendations to those in our group who want to learn more about VBACs and who are planning a VBAC. Cesarean prevention and recovery is also discussed and support is given to mothers have gone through a C-section.
